Officials are a vital part of the sport of athletics and running, without them we wouldn't be able to put on competitions. Officials can bring about positive change and experiences that can result in athletes achieving personal bests, medals or just enjoying their events and recommend friends and family to join the athletics community. As a Club we need more officials to support our participation in track and field leagues.
The North East has some of the leading officials in the UK, many of them started at the NEYDL or Senior T&F League (probably raking the sand pit) to get points for their Clubs, and some have now progressed to UK Championships, World Championships and the Olympics!
NECAA have managed to arrange face to face Level 1 courses but the take up so far has been slow and they may well be cancelled:
Track Judge - 23rd April at Shildon
Field Judge - 21st May at Shildon.
Please book on to the courses via England Athletics.
If anyone is interested in becoming a timekeeper, a course will be available but no date has been set yet.
