The first Sunderland City 10km was held in 2011, with just over 1500 taking part, and 11 years later the Sunderland City Runs welcomed around 4,000 participants to the city streets in a celebration of running across a range of distances.
One of the North’s largest running events, the Sunderland Half Marathon races through the city and along the sea front, with two of its famous bridges providing a stunning backdrop. The course and atmosphere are notoriously conducive to fast times, as well as a lot of fun.
Rachael Turnbull and Roselle Oberholzer were the two Bees representing Blaydon, and both ran well. Rachael completing the course in 1:49:24 and Roselle in 94:24.
