The 2023 London Marathon was the 43rd running of the annual event, held this year on 23 April. It was the first time since 2019 that the event was run in the spring, as the previous three races were run in autumn due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Club was well represented this year, despite the race being notoriously hard to get into via the ballot. Nine Blaydon Harriers completed the gruelling 26.2 miles around the Capital.
The rain and cold didn’t put a dampener on the day, with some smashing their PBs with superb marathon times:
David Best 2:46
Sam Hodgson 2:48
James Dias 2:49
Letha Whitham 3:15
Roselle Oberholzer 3:16
Bill Carr 3:54
Harry Broome 4:25
Steph Ashall 4:03
Jo Graham 4:35
Ellie Fellows was also racing in London, representing the North East junior team at the TCS mini London marathon championship. What an achievement and incredible experience.
Seven days previously Suzie Keyes ran the 2023 adidas Manchester Marathon on 16 April 2023 achieving a PB.
Well done to each and every one of you!
