Heaton Harriers Memorial 10K, 14 November 2021
The Heaton Harriers Memorial Road Races take place on a traffic-free course on footpaths around Newcastle’s Town Moor. The 10k race incorporated the 2021 North Eastern Counties Athletics Association and the North East Masters Athletics Association Men’s and Women’s 10K Road Racing Championships.
Martin Graham was the first Blaydon Harrier over the line in 00:35:04, followed by James Dias in 00:36:33, David Graham (00:43:10) (3rd V65), Colin Gray (00:44:16), Letha Witham (00:45:58) and Aidan Macdermott (00:49:12).
Saturn Running Remembrance Run, Durham, 14 November 2021
A total of 3,132 miles were run at this event by 205 entrants, with Blaydon’s Kat Nicholson completing 17.51 of them.
Norman Woodcock Relays, 20 November 2021
On what was a windy afternoon at Gosforth Park racecourse, Blaydon fielded four teams of three runners, each running a 1.66 mile leg around the ambulance road inside the race track.
The Blaydon A team of Matthew Levison (08:38), Emily Baines (09:34) and Matthew Armstrong (07:59) finished in a fantastic third place, with a total time of 26:11. Tynedale Harriers took first place and Morpeth Harriers second.
The Blaydon B team of David Best (09:02), Emma Cartwright (10:35) and Isaac Dunn (08:38) finished 15th. The C team comprised James Dias (09:15), Letha Whitham (11:31) and Rosie Bunner (12:17). The D team (V40) was made up of Andrea Clarke (13:01), Nicola Perry (14:14) and Paul Young (11:50).
NEHL Cross Country, Aykley Heads, 27 November 2021
The fourth instalment of this season’s Harrier League saw proper cross country conditions on a fantastic course at Aykley Heads, Durham.
The days first event was the U11 Boys, with Liam Greener the sole Blaydon runner.
Next up the U17 Boys with two runners representing Blaydon, both from the fast pack. First home was Will Collinson in 17th, followed Oscar Jolly in 26th. One short of a complete team on the day, but both doing well in the Individual Grand Prix (GP) with Oscar in 19th and Will an impressive first.
Fifth race of the day was the U15 Boys, again with two runners, James Gray and Robert Atkinson, 11th and 17th respectively from the fast pack. A couple of solid performances puts Robert 3rd in the individual GP and James 17th!
Next up the U15 Girls with Ellie Fellows the sole harrier and a good performance coming from the fast pack to finish 6th and topping the individual GP table.
The U13 Boys ran next with Aaron Jobson running from the fast pack to finish 6th and move up to 8th in the individual GP table.
Penultimate race of the day was the Senior Women with a full team led home by Emily Baines form the medium pack to finish in a fantastic 5th place on the day. Second back was Eleanor Bradbury in 20th place from the fast pack, and third was Izzi Jackson back in 93rd. Completing the woman’s team were Emma Cartwright, Rosie Bunney, Steph Ashall, Nicola Perry, Deborah Collins. The woman’s team were third in division 2!
The Senior Men led home by Isaac Dunn in 35th, closely followed by Matty Levison in 39th, and third back was Andrew Alderson 64th; all three from the medium pack. Completing the team were James Dias, David Best, Jaycee Shotton and Chris Ashall.
