The NECAA Open Track Meeting at Gateshead on 2 March 2025 was a fantastic event for Blaydon Harriers, with some brilliant performances across the board. Our athletes truly showed their dedication and talent on the track, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts.
A huge congratulations to Abigail McLaughlin, who qualified for the B-team finals and took first place in her 60m race, a fantastic achievement!
The 60m hurdles saw some excellent personal bests from Georgie Herdman, Maggie Lu, Maya Goodliff, and Lottie Brown. Their hard work and determination paid off, with all of them setting new PBs.
In the 60m sprint, both Yousuf Rafi and Zain Rafi also ran personal bests, showing just how much our athletes have been pushing themselves in training.
A special mention goes to the girls in Derek Craig’s hurdles group, who all competed at a high level at the event. Maya qualified for the final, which is an incredible achievement! Derek’s coaching continues to shine through in his athletes’ results, and we’re grateful for his expert guidance and support.
It’s been a great start to the season for our Harriers, and this event really showcased the talent and hard work of everyone involved. Well done to all our athletes for their outstanding performances, here’s to even more success at upcoming competitions!
