NECAA Open Match, 9 May 2021
Great performances from May McDonald and Eden Burns who competed in the NECAA Open Match 2 at Middlesbrough on 9 May. Both girls won their respective hurdle race.
May won the U17 girls 80m hurdles in 12:36. A fantastic time as this is May’s first race at this distance. Eden won the U13 girls 70m hurdles in 12:60. Another fantastic time, considering she was making her debut wearing the black and amber vest.
Trail Outlaws Durham Trail 10 Mile, 9 May 2021
The Durham Trails 10 starts in Durham City before heading down along the Wear Dale Way, through the woods of Shincliffe and Croxdale, then returns to the City via some great trails and finishing with a climb up to the top of Whinney Hill. Kat Nicholson (02:23:10) and Nicola Perry (01:59:56) ran from the Club.
North East Grand Prix, 19 May 2021
The North East Grand Prix on 19 May saw first class performances again from both May McDonald and Eden Burns. Eden came first in the 70m U13 hurdles, and May won the U17 80m hurdles in 12:12, a PB.

Northern Athletics Track and Field League, 22 May 2021
The first meeting of the Senior’s Track and Field League took place at Churchill Playing Fields, Whitley Bay on 22 May 2021. After the first match of the season the Blaydon Harriers/Elswick Harriers team is in 7th place in Division 1, with 2 league points and 177 match points.
Wild Deer Derwent Reservoir Trail Races, 30 May 2021
Sam Hodgson came second in the 10 mile race for the club with a time of 01:01:37. Followed by John Taylor in a very respectable 25th position with 01:18:44. Izzi Jackson also competed in the 10 mile race, finishing in 01:26:45 and 13th female.
Andrew Alderson took first place in the 5K race in 17:27. Junior, Ellie Fellows finished in 10th position in an excellent time of 22:37, taking second female and first in her age category, and beating her Dad, Neil Fellows by 3 seconds. Nicola Alderson finished 19th, 6th female and 4th in her age category, with 26:56. Aiden Macdermott also ran in a Blaydon vest, finishing 3rd in his age category in 24:46.
