Do you ever come along to our sessions to watch your child and want to get involved? Do you want to support the Club and our members whilst gaining a new skill? Now’s your chance!
We are looking to increase the number of coaches we have here at Blaydon Harrier and Athletics Club to support all our age groups. There are several courses that can be completed, and we would love to get more of our members or members parents involved with the Club. Once qualified you can commit as much or as little time as you like.
So, what is in it for you?
The course will be paid for by the Club
You will be eligible for discounted membership rates
We’ll kit you out in Blaydon Harriers & Athletic Club kit
You can find information about all the courses below. Click on the link for more info, which includes course dates and how long the courses last.
Coaching Assistant - Athletics Coaching Assistant | England Athletics
This qualification is for those who wish to take their first step into coaching. Once qualified you will be able to coach under supervision from a fully licenced coach for ages 8 yrs+. This would allow you to support any of our scheduled sessions that take place on a Tuesday or Thursday.
Athletics Coach - Athletics Coach Qualification | England Athletics
Once qualified as a Coaching Assistant, the next step up is the Athletics Coach. The Athletics Coach qualification has been designed to support coaching athletes and advocates a multi-event approach in the development of athletes. This course covers elements of athletics including Speed, Endurance, Jumps or Throws.
Leading Athletics - Leading Athletics Course | England Athletics
The Leading Athletics workshop is designed for those looking at an introduction to leading athletic activities for young athletes. Whilst not a formal qualification, by completing this course you will be able to support an Athletics Coach leading element of a training session.
This is open to anyone aged over 14 years and would be great for some of our junior members if they are studying sports, completing a Duke of Edinburgh award, or want to start a career in coaching.
