Well! What a start to the New Year. 45 Blaydon Harriers ran at a muddy and blustery Herrington Park today. U11s started the proceedings as usual, Max Murray finished in 3rd place and was the highest placed Blaydon Harrier of the day followed by Matthew Levy, Robert Atkinson and Tom Wallace. U11 girls Hazel Richardson 11th, Ellie Fellows, and Katie Robinson making her debut for the club. Will Collinson continued his fantastic season finishing 5th from the fast pack, followed by Alex Wallace in 18th place, his best this season. Tom Burnett, Joseph Lonergan (fast packers) and James Leath. Once again our only U13 girl was the superb Grace Johnson. U15 girls, first home Rosa Edwards then Jessica Levy, Abbie Lewis and Emma Burnett all from the fast pack. One U17 lady, Beth Fraser and two U17 men Luke Shears and Daniel Buffham running from the fast pack. Fifteen of our amazing senior ladies, some making their cross country debut, including one with no number. Claire Collinson finished 17th and is promoted to the medium pack. Followed by Gillian Hauxwell, Elaine Small, Izzy Jackson, Joanne Ramshaw, running from the medium pack, Deborah Collins, Jo Edwards, Rachel Grant, Elaine Rudman, Nicola Perry, Doreen Craig, Julie Leath, Lynne Hepple and Mandy Robinson plus one other. The ladies finished 3rd team today and are 2nd in the league. Finally and equally amazing the senior men, first home was George Rudman in 7th place followed by Alex Muir in 17th place, his first race after coming back from injury and Peter Hodgson 22nd all three are promoted to the medium pack, then James Dias and James Ramshaw running from the medium pack and Matthew Alderson from the fast pack. Then came Lee Pattinson, Simon Evans, former club chairman, Stu Beryl and Stuart Moor. The senior men won with 111 points and are leading the 3rd division from Low Fell and Houghton. With both the men and women in promotion positions could we dare hope for a double promotion party? Two more Harrier Leagues to go. Come on the Black and Ambers!
