Gibside 10K and 5K Trail Runs, 1 May 2024

Updated: Jul 8

Several Blaydon athletes took part in the Wild Deer Gibside 10K and 5K Trail Runs, which were held at The National Trust Gibside Estate at Rowlands Gill on Wednesday 1 May 2024.

The Gibside Estate is one of a few surviving 18th Century designed landscapes and was fashioned with two things in mind, spectatular views and wow moments! It's well known for it's scenery and for its challenging hills. With over 600 acres of gardens, woodland and countryside, both the 10K and 5K route took in the main sites the estate has to offer and were appropriately 'undulating'.

U20 Blaydon athlete, Robert Atkinson, won the 5K race in a brilliant time of 20:37 and coach Andrea Clarke completed the route in 31:38, winning her age group.

In the 10K race, Charlie Toogood was first Blaydon finisher, finishing in fifth in 42:18, while Ellie Fellows was the first female finisher, and first in her age category, in seventh place, with a time of 42:36, yet another amazing run from Ellie.

Cameron Fairlamb finished in 47:54 (sixth in his age category), Beth Bradford in 48:28 (fifth female and first in her age category), Joanne Ramshaw in 50:43 (third in her age group and seventh female), Chris Johnson in 55:01, Andrew Nagi in 59:48 and Nicola Perry in 01:16:50.
