In November 2023, a number of our Junior athletes qualified from their school cross country competitions, earning the chance to run in the Durham Schools Championship and an opportunity to qualify for the Durham team in the Inter-Counties race against the best of North Yorkshire, Cleveland, Northumberland and Cumbria.
At the Championship on 13 January 2024, the best athletes represented their districts on a challenging cross-country course at Farringdon, Sunderland.
The top 16 in each category qualify to represent Durham at Inter-Counties (and get a coveted purple hoodie) with the best eight performers (selected from both the Durham Championships and the Inter-Counties race) going on to represent Durham in the English Schools Championship, held this year in Pontefract.
Well done to all our Juniors who competed, it was a challenging course and we saw an outstanding effort from all our young athletes! Congratulations to our athletes who've been selected to represent Durham.
