Thirty Blaydon Harriers ran at a very cold and windy Alnwick yesterday.
Four U11s - Jamie Lonnergan came home first in 4th place for the boys, followed by Aaron Jobson and Logan Knox, in the girls, new signing Niamh Lonnergan was 5th.
U13 boys were represented by Robert Atkinson and Tom Wallace, and a team of U13 girls were led in by Ellie Fellows, then Grace Perry and Hazel Richardson.
In the U15 boys, Joseph Lonnergan finished a great day out for the Lonnergan family by finishing 3rd and is promoted to the fast pack, ever present Alex Wallace was our other U15 boy. Hannah Perry was our only U15 girl.
North East bronze medalist team of Cecilia Reid, Abbie Lewis and Jessica Levy, showed their liking for the Alnwick course by winning the U17 ladies event. Cecilia came 2nd place, the highest finishing Blaydon athlete on the day and will now run in the fast pack.
Only five senior ladies, but excellent perfomances from all of them. Led home by Letha Whitham in 6th place, and promoted to the fast pack, just behind in 10th, Joanne Ramshaw and she goes to the medium pack, closely followed by Claire McConnell, Jacqueline Elliot and Nicola Perry. The ladies finished 6th team on the day, but it was very close, only 9 points between Jesmond in 3rd place and Blaydon in 6th. The senior ladies team is currently 7th in the league.
Ten senior men were led home by debutant, Joe Horne in 11th place, who moves to the medium pack, then Matthew Alderson, Martin Graham, James Dias, Neil Fellows, Jaycee Shotton, Ian Brooks, Robert Hulse, Alan Storey and Eric Lewis. The men finished 6th on the day and are 4th in the league.
The next Harrier league will be at Lambton Estate on 14th March, the same day as the English Schools Cross Country Championships in Liverpool, so there will be a few juniors and parents missing, including myself.
